Job Title: Logistics Expert - Nigeria

ROLE PURPOSE

The Logistics Expert will support the country management team to ensure that logistics policies, procedures and operational systems are appropriate for the Nigerian context. The expert will provide technical advice on logistics, procurement, supply-chain systems and operational approaches.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review existing logistics processes and operational approaches.
  • Provide advice to country management on logistics and procurement matters.
  • Analyse logistics and procurement trends.
  • Identify operational weaknesses, risks and inefficiencies.
  • Recommend appropriate improvements.
  • Update logistics procedures and systems where necessary.
  • Support implementation of organisational logistics and procurement requirements.
  • Ensure logistics policies reflect operational realities.
  • Work closely with programme and support teams.
  • Provide technical guidance for logistics planning and implementation.
  • Support logistics teams in coordination and field locations.
  • Strengthen procurement, supply-chain and operational systems.
  • Promote compliance with humanitarian principles and organisational procedures.
  • Provide field-level support when required.
  • Support the standardisation of logistics tools and documentation.
  • Transfer technical knowledge to logistics personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in Logistics.
  • More than three years of experience working on logistics projects.
  • Previous experience in humanitarian environments.
  • Experience with Action Against Hunger is strongly desirable.
  • Ability to plan, organise and execute logistics activities.
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and codes of conduct.
  • Knowledge of local, regional, national and international logistics requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement and supply-chain management.
  • Ability to analyse operational trends and recommend practical solutions.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong communication, advisory and problem-solving skills.
