ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Première Urgence Internationale is a nonprofit, nonpolitical and nonreligious international humanitarian organization supporting populations affected by conflict, displacement, natural disasters and economic crises. PUI has worked in Nigeria since 2016 and delivers health, nutrition, protection and psychosocial-support services in Borno State and other humanitarian locations.
ROLE PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Logistics Officer, the Logistics Assistant will support the management and maintenance of PUI equipment, facilities, installations and stores. The role will contribute to reliable logistics operations, preventive maintenance, inventory control and safe working premises in Pulka.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
- Codify PUI equipment according to organizational procedures.
- Record equipment in the equipment follow-up register.
- Inspect equipment regularly and report faults to the Logistics Officer.
- Help keep printers, scanners, water dispensers and other assigned equipment operational.
- Assist with equipment distribution and movement.
- Support loading and unloading of goods and materials.
- Monitor generator fluid levels and report problems.
- Refuel generators or support authorized security personnel with refuelling.
- Collect departmental stationery requests and distribute approved supplies.
- Notify the supervisor when stationery stocks require replenishment.
STORAGE AND INVENTORY
- Support communication and coordination concerning store operations.
- Help ensure adequate storage space is available.
- Report delays or discrepancies involving incoming and outgoing deliveries.
- Request and organize daily labourers when approved.
- Assist with monthly and annual physical stock counts.
- Reconcile physical inventory with stock records.
- Submit inventory information to the Logistics Officer.
- Follow PUI storage, documentation and stock-management procedures.
PREMISES AND MAINTENANCE
- Inspect offices, warehouses, stores and supported health facilities regularly.
- Report maintenance problems and equipment breakdowns.
- Conduct minor repairs and routine maintenance when qualified to do so.
- Support specialist technicians during maintenance work.
- Help maintain fire extinguishers, sand buckets and other safety equipment.
- Ensure spare keys are stored securely.
- Monitor basic perimeter-security measures, including fencing or barbed wire.
- Plan and implement assigned preventive-maintenance activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- At least one year of relevant logistics, maintenance, facilities, inventory or store-management experience.
- Previous NGO or humanitarian-sector experience is an advantage but was not stated as mandatory.
- Experience maintaining equipment, premises and stock records is relevant.
