JSI Research & Training Institute is recruiting 22 Local Government Area Immunization Consultants across Adamawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kwara, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara States. The consultants will support routine immunization planning and implementation, polio outbreak response, health-worker capacity building, outreach vaccination, identification of zero-dose and under-immunized children, immunization data management and reporting. Candidates must have a relevant bachelor's degree, at least three years of immunization experience, and willingness to live and work in their assigned LGAs.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. is a global public health management consulting and research organisation dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

JSI is recruiting Local Government Area Immunization Consultants to support technical assistance aimed at strengthening routine immunization systems, increasing vaccination coverage, reducing the number of zero-dose and under-immunized children, supporting the use of novel oral polio vaccine type 2 (nOPV2), and reducing childhood illness and death.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Local Government Area Immunization Consultant will support the quality planning and implementation of routine immunization and polio outbreak response activities in the assigned local government areas. The consultant will work closely with LGA Primary Health Care teams, health facility staff, community structures and other immunization partners to strengthen local capacity to provide immunization services.

The role will cover a cluster of approximately six to eight LGAs and requires the successful candidate to live and work in the assigned locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Support LGAs and ward personnel in developing detailed plans for routine immunization and delivery of nOPV2 through opportunistic platforms, in line with technical and operational guidance.

2.Contribute to capacity building for health personnel on routine immunization, nOPV2 administration, demand generation, supportive supervision, vaccine management, adverse-event monitoring and documentation using project databases and NHMIS data tools.

3.Support LGAs in ensuring that planned fixed and outreach immunization sessions are implemented and properly documented in data-capture tools and NHMIS registers.

4.Provide mentorship and supportive supervision to health-facility service providers and outreach vaccination teams to support quality service delivery.

5.Support the identification, tracking and referral of newborns and other under-immunized children to health facilities and outreach vaccination posts within their catchment areas.

6.Contribute to the development, monitoring, analysis and reporting of programme indicators, with emphasis on data quality and timely reporting.

7.Support LGAs in analysing immunization data and providing regular feedback to service providers at health-facility and community levels.

8.Prepare and submit detailed weekly and monthly activity reports to the State Immunization Consultant.

9.Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.A bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing or a related field from a recognised institution.

2.At least three years of work experience in immunization.

3.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work harmoniously as part of a team and engage effectively with local communities.

4.Ability to adapt to diverse educational, cultural and religious backgrounds and maintain a high standard of personal conduct.

5.Strong experience in routine immunization service delivery at LGA level, with the ability to work extensively with minimal supervision.

6.Experience in immunization programmes supported by government or international partners, including the Gates Foundation, UN agencies, the United States Government, DFID or local and international NGOs, is an advantage.

7.Good spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate clear instructions.

8.Understanding of the local language spoken in the assigned LGAs is mandatory.

9.Willingness and ability to travel within assigned LGAs, sometimes under suboptimal conditions.

CONTRACT AND WORK ARRANGEMENT:

1.Position grade: FSN 6–7.

2.Number of consultants required: 22.

3.Duty stations: Assigned LGAs in Adamawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kwara, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara States.

4.Work arrangement: On-site.

5.The successful candidates must be willing to live and work in their assigned LGAs.
