Global Peace Development is recruiting a Livelihood Officer to lead the implementation and monitoring of livelihood and economic-empowerment activities in Sokoto State.

Global Peace Development is a Nigerian non-governmental organisation established to promote peace and development. The organisation works with communities and stakeholders to strengthen peace, resilience and sustainable development.

Role Purpose

The Livelihood Officer will support the delivery of community-based interventions designed to improve income generation, economic resilience and self-reliance among women, young people and other vulnerable groups.

The officer will supervise field activities, engage beneficiaries and stakeholders, support monitoring and data collection and ensure that programme activities produce quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement livelihood and economic-empowerment activities in target communities.
  • Mobilise and engage programme beneficiaries, including women, young people and vulnerable groups.
  • Conduct community meetings, field visits, sensitisation activities and beneficiary trainings.
  • Support beneficiaries to participate effectively in livelihood interventions.
  • Lead baseline, monitoring and post-intervention data-collection activities.
  • Maintain accurate beneficiary records and programme-output documentation.
  • Monitor the progress and results of livelihood activities.
  • Document programme success stories, good practices and lessons learned.
  • Prepare activity reports and provide programme updates.
  • Coordinate with community leaders, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that field activities comply with approved programme plans and requirements.
  • Apply Global Peace Development’s safeguarding, accountability and code-of-conduct requirements during implementation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • HND or bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Development Studies, Sociology, Business Administration, Social Sciences or another related field.
  • Between two and three years of relevant experience in livelihoods, economic empowerment, community development or humanitarian and development programming.
  • Strong project-implementation and community-engagement skills.
  • Experience supporting programme monitoring and data collection.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Knowledge of relevant local languages is an advantage.
  • Strong documentation and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
