Position Description & Requirements

Malaria Consortium is engaging an IT Ad-Hoc Support Assistant to inspect, verify, configure and document 2,020 mobile devices intended for use during the 2026 insecticide-treated net campaign.

The assignment covers physical inspection, device testing, accessory verification, categorization, tagging and installation of Mobile Device Management and digital-health applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Unpack and repack mobile phones and accessories.
  • Confirm that devices meet the required technical specifications.
  • Test mobile phones to confirm their functionality and physical condition.
  • Verify chargers, batteries, pouches, USB cables and other accessories.
  • Tag and label devices according to the verification procedure.
  • Categorize devices as functional, faulty or requiring further attention.
  • Install and configure the designated Mobile Device Management application.
  • Install the DIGIT HCM application and other required campaign software.
  • Maintain accurate manual or electronic records of inspected devices.
  • Assist with sorting and arranging devices and accessories.
  • Handle extension cables and connect devices safely for testing.
  • Keep the verification workspace clean and properly organized.
  • Submit a signed timesheet at the end of each working day.

DELIVERABLES

  • Mobile phones and accessories unpacked, inspected, sorted and repacked daily.
  • Devices accurately tagged and grouped according to functional status.
  • Verified devices provisioned with required MDM and DIGIT HCM applications.
  • Accurate records showing functionality, faults and missing accessories.
  • Clean and orderly verification workspace.
  • Completed daily timesheets.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in an IT technical-support role.
  • Familiarity with Android phones and mobile-device specifications.
  • Familiarity with Mobile Device Management applications.
  • Familiarity with digital-health tools used during health campaigns.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
