EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

  • Contract type: National contract
  • Contract duration: Six months, renewable, with possible extension subject to funding
  • Duty station: Abuja, Nigeria, with support to programme areas in northern Nigeria
  • Reporting line: Chief of Party, with technical supervision from the Information Management Specialist
  • Salary and benefits: Band H, Level 1 (NM-H) under DRC's national salary structure and local Nigerian employment conditions
  • Start date: As soon as the right candidate is identified

ROLE PURPOSE

The Information Management Officer – Consortium supports the consortium's beneficiary-information, data-quality, payment-reconciliation and reporting systems. The officer will maintain reliable ActivityInfo databases, help partners and field teams manage data correctly, produce accurate programme information and ensure sensitive beneficiary data is handled securely.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ActivityInfo and database management

  • Maintain and update ActivityInfo beneficiary databases, including registration, data entry, synchronisation and consolidation across consortium partners and programmes.
  • Configure, test, maintain and revise ActivityInfo forms, databases, calculated fields, reports and mobile or offline data-collection workflows.
  • Support field teams and partners with ActivityInfo mobile collection, user access, downloads, offline use and data synchronisation.
  • Troubleshoot routine system or submission problems and escalate complex technical issues when necessary.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, version records, access documentation and relevant information-management standard operating procedures.

Data quality, cleaning and deduplication

  • Conduct routine data-quality assessments and identify missing, incomplete, inconsistent or unusual records.
  • Develop and apply automated validation checks and document corrections and follow-up actions in a cleaning log.
  • Carry out beneficiary deduplication using exact and fuzzy matching techniques.
  • Review deduplication outputs, investigate flags and maintain clear records of decisions and changes.
  • Work with partners and programme teams to correct source data and improve future data quality.

Cash, distribution and referral reconciliation

  • Reconcile multipurpose cash assistance beneficiary and distribution datasets.
  • Prepare comparable extracts, match records and identify missing, unmatched, duplicated or inconsistent entries.
  • Produce exception lists for review and resolution.
  • Work with the Cash Specialist and financial-service providers to reconcile payment records, including beneficiary identifiers, names, amounts, transaction counts and total cash values.
  • Prepare beneficiary and protection referral lists while applying appropriate confidentiality and data-protection controls.

Reporting, analysis and capacity strengthening

  • Produce monitoring reports, dashboards, data extracts and statistics for post-distribution monitoring, donor reporting and management decision-making.
  • Provide first-line technical support and training to DRC and partner staff on ActivityInfo, data-collection tools, data-quality assurance, reporting and information-management workflows.
  • Maintain complete documentation of data-quality checks, deduplication, reconciliation, database versions, user access and corrective actions.
  • Perform other information-management and data tasks assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in computer science, programming, information management, information technology or another relevant field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • A programming-related professional certificate is desirable.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in information management, database design or database administration, preferably with an NGO, UN agency or development programme.
  • Demonstrated experience with ActivityInfo and other digital data-collection or monitoring platforms such as Kobo, ODK, SurveyCTO or CommCare.
  • Strong ability with Microsoft Excel and relevant experience with SQL, R, Microsoft Access, Power BI or statistical packages.
  • Experience in database design, administration, queries and data-processing workflows.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems; GIS knowledge is an advantage.
  • Experience delivering training and building the capacity of colleagues or partner organisations.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; knowledge of languages used in northern Nigeria is an advantage.
  • Experience supporting integrated programmes and working collaboratively with multiple partners.
