ABOUT CDHI

Chabash Development and Health Initiative (CDHI) is a women-led Nigerian NGO working in health, nutrition, protection, WASH and livelihoods across the Northeast and Northwest.

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Officer reports to the Head of Operations and supervises the HR Assistant. The officer leads recruitment, employee relations, HR administration and labour and donor compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate job advertising, shortlisting, interviews, onboarding, contracts and role descriptions.
  • Maintain confidential staff, leave, training and performance records and provide accurate data for payroll.
  • Respond to staff concerns and support employee welfare, benefits and grievance handling.
  • Support performance appraisals, improvement plans and training-needs assessments.
  • Apply Nigerian labour law, donor requirements and HR policies; provide documentation for audits.
  • Ensure compliance with CDHI's code of conduct, safeguarding and child-protection policies and promote prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or a related field; CIPM certification is an advantage.
  • Three to five years of relevant HR experience, preferably with an NGO or donor-funded organisation.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian labour law, recruitment, contracts, benefits and performance management.
  • Strong confidentiality, communication, conflict resolution, Excel and HR-systems skills.
  • English fluency; Hausa, Kanuri or Fulfulde and occasional field travel are advantages.
