Position Description & Requirements
ROLE PURPOSE
Reporting to the Health Manager, the Health Officer will provide professional, technical, operational and administrative support throughout UNICEF’s health-programming cycle, with emphasis on polio eradication, immunisation, zero-dose reduction and maternal and child health.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support health-programme development and planning.
- Manage and monitor programme implementation and delivery of results.
- Provide technical and operational support to programme partners.
- Support immunisation-strengthening and zero-dose-reduction activities.
- Contribute to polio-eradication planning and implementation.
- Monitor disease outbreaks and support preparedness and response.
- Build partnerships with government, communities and implementing partners.
- Support innovation, knowledge management and capacity development.
- Prepare monitoring, evaluation and results reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Paediatric Health, Family Health, Health Research, Global or International Health, Health Policy and Management, Environmental Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Health Education, Epidemiology or another relevant field.
- At least two years of experience in public-health or nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal healthcare, or health emergency and humanitarian preparedness.
- Skills in immunisation programmes, results-based planning, polio eradication, disease-outbreak response and partnership management.
- Fluency in English.
- UN experience, another UN language or a relevant local language is an asset.
