PROGRAMME BACKGROUND

WEWE is implementing a Health Insurance Support Initiative to improve widows’ access to quality healthcare through the Federal Capital Territory Health Insurance Scheme and other health insurance partners.

The organisation is seeking a competent and compassionate individual to provide administrative support, maintain accurate records and coordinate follow-up on beneficiaries’ health insurance issues.

JOB SUMMARY

The Health Insurance Administrative Officer will support the enrolment and management of widows participating in the Federal Capital Territory Health Insurance Scheme.

The successful candidate will maintain beneficiary records, follow up with health insurance providers, resolve complaints and ensure that beneficiaries can access the healthcare services covered under their insurance plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate and updated records of all widows enrolled in the Federal Capital Territory Health Insurance Scheme.
  • Maintain records of beneficiary enrolments, renewals and personal information.
  • Follow up with the Federal Capital Territory Health Insurance Scheme, Health Maintenance Organisations and healthcare providers.
  • Resolve beneficiary enrolment, authorisation, referral and healthcare service access issues.
  • Receive, document, track and resolve beneficiary enquiries and complaints.
  • Ensure that every beneficiary case is followed through to completion.
  • Monitor beneficiaries’ health insurance status and coordinate timely renewals to prevent lapses in coverage.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on enrolments, renewals, unresolved cases, referrals and programme activities.
  • Ensure that beneficiary records and supporting documents are complete, accurate and securely maintained.
  • Maintain both electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Guide widows on how to access their health insurance benefits.
  • Explain the referral and healthcare service delivery process to beneficiaries.
  • Liaise with designated health insurance and HMO officials to facilitate the prompt resolution of beneficiary cases.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with health insurance providers and healthcare facilities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling beneficiary information.
  • Comply with WEWE’s record-management and data-protection procedures.
  • Perform other health insurance administration and programme support duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Nursing, Public Health, Health Information Management, Community Health, Medical Laboratory Science, Health Administration or another health-related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in health insurance administration, healthcare administration or Health Maintenance Organisation operations is required.
  • Experience working with HMOs such as Reliance Health, AXA Mansard or similar organisations.
  • Experience managing health insurance enrolment and beneficiary records.
  • Experience following up on authorisation requests, referrals, complaints and beneficiary case management.
  • Experience maintaining accurate electronic and physical records.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, community health programmes, NGOs or donor-funded projects is an added advantage.

  • Ability to prepare weekly and monthly programme reports.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive beneficiary information.
  • Good coordination and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with HMOs, healthcare providers and government health insurance officials.
  • High level of integrity, accountability and professionalism.
  • Commitment to supporting widows and other vulnerable people.
