JOB SUMMARY

Plan International is recruiting a Head of Global Rapid Response and Readiness Unit. The role will establish and lead a global function responsible for organizational preparedness, rapid humanitarian scale-up and high-profile emergency responses. The position may be based in a flexible location, including Nigeria, where the successful candidate has the right to work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and lead Plan International’s Global Rapid Response and Readiness Unit.
  • Strengthen emergency preparedness and readiness across Country Offices and National Organisations.
  • Lead, coordinate and support organizational responses to major humanitarian emergencies.
  • Provide practice leadership on anticipatory action and rapid-response approaches.
  • Directly manage deployable managers, officers and specialists and matrix-manage technical specialists.
  • Draw lessons from Plan International and wider sector practice to improve response quality and speed.
  • Support country teams to scale humanitarian assistance, protect lives and mobilize resources.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive senior-level leadership experience in humanitarian preparedness and emergency response.
  • Strong record of leading complex, high-profile or multi-country humanitarian operations.
  • Experience managing deployable and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work across organizational structures and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
