ABOUT BOWDI:
Bridge for Women Development Initiative (formerly Borno Women Development Initiative – BOWDI) is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting gender equality, women's empowerment, protection, and the well-being of vulnerable communities through humanitarian and development interventions.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Gender Field Support Officer will support the implementation of gender-focused activities and promote gender equality, women's empowerment, protection, and meaningful participation within target communities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Support the implementation of gender equality and women's empowerment activities at the community level.
2.Facilitate community sensitization sessions on gender equality, women's rights, and protection.
3.Promote the meaningful participation of women, girls, men, and boys in project activities.
4.Work closely with community leaders, women's groups, and relevant stakeholders to address gender-related barriers.
5.Support the identification of gender gaps and vulnerabilities within target communities.
6.Assist in organizing trainings, awareness campaigns, focus group discussions, and community dialogues.
7.Identify and refer individuals requiring specialized protection or gender-based violence (GBV) services through established referral pathways.
8.Monitor field activities and provide regular updates and reports to the project team.
9.Collect accurate field data and document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned.
10.Ensure that all activities adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality, accountability, and do-no-harm principles.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.Minimum of a diploma or bachelor's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field.
2.At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in gender programming, community mobilization, protection, or humanitarian and development work.
3.Experience working with women, girls, and vulnerable populations is an advantage.
4.Good communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
5.Ability to engage effectively with community leaders and local stakeholders.
6.Fluency in English and relevant local languages spoken in the assigned location.
7.Willingness and ability to travel within assigned communities.
