Position: Finance Officer (Chartered Accountant) for Esusu Contribution

JOB SUMMARY
WEWE is seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant on behalf of African Women of Faith Digital Solutions Ltd for its Widows Savings Scheme.
The successful candidate will oversee the financial operations of the Widows Savings Scheme in the Federal Capital Territory, ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping, regulatory compliance and effective financial management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in managing and maintaining accurate records of members’ savings contributions, withdrawals and other financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, savings performance reports and management accounts to support decision-making.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Monitor scheme funds, cash flow and expenditures to ensure financial accountability and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulatory requirements and internal control procedures.
- Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets, financial plans and forecasts for the Widows Savings Scheme and related projects.
- Coordinate the processing of payments and maintain proper financial records and filing systems.
- Support internal and external audit processes and respond to audit queries when required.
- Prepare statutory and management reports and support regulatory compliance activities.
- Work closely with digital systems administrators to ensure the accuracy of financial data captured on digital platforms.
- Support financial literacy and recordkeeping activities for beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Perform other finance and administrative duties assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting or another relevant social science discipline.
- Applicants must possess a First Class, Second Class Upper, Distinction or Upper Credit qualification.
- Must be a full member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
- Other relevant professional certifications or courses will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of one year of post-NYSC professional experience in accounting, finance, audit or financial administration.
- Experience maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports and reconciling bank accounts.
- Practical knowledge of budgeting, cash-flow management and financial controls.
- Experience processing payments, managing receipts and monitoring expenditures.
- Experience preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Experience ensuring compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements and organisational policies.
- Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience managing savings contributions, member records and financial transactions with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience working with NGOs, cooperatives, savings groups, microfinance initiatives, faith-based organisations or community development projects is an added advantage.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
- Strong financial reporting and recordkeeping skills.
- Good knowledge of budgeting, cash-flow management and financial controls.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and beneficiary information.
- Ability to meet financial reporting deadlines.
- High level of integrity and accountability.
- Commitment to supporting widows and vulnerable communities.
