JOB DESCRIPTION SNIPPET:
NFDP is seeking a Finance Officer to manage day-to-day financial operations, bookkeeping, budget control, donor compliance and financial reporting supporting programme delivery in Borno and Yobe States.

New Foundation for Displaced Persons (NFDP) is a Nigerian non-governmental organization supporting people affected by displacement and crisis to survive, recover and rebuild their lives.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance Officer will manage day-to-day financial operations, maintain accurate financial records, support budget control, ensure compliance with organizational and donor requirements and prepare timely financial reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Maintain accurate books of accounts in approved accounting systems and ensure financial transactions are properly recorded.
2.Process payments, post journal entries and ensure transactions are correctly coded against approved budgets.
3.Manage cash and bank transactions, including bank reconciliations, cashbooks, ledgers and financial filing systems.
4.Support programme teams with budget preparation, budget realignment, forecasting and expenditure monitoring.
5.Ensure compliance with organizational, donor and Nigerian financial requirements.
6.Support financial reporting, audits and preparation of financial documentation.
7.Provide financial guidance and capacity support to field staff on financial procedures, expense retirements and compliance.
8.Maintain confidentiality and ensure financial records are properly safeguarded.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
2.Minimum of 3 years of professional finance experience within the NGO or humanitarian sector.
3.Experience with international donor financial requirements.
4.Experience working in the Borno context is highly desirable.
5.Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Microsoft Excel.
6.Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, NGO compliance and audit processes.
7.High integrity, honesty and confidentiality.
8.Strong analytical, reporting, organizational and communication skills.
9.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
