Position Description & Requirements
Five Teams Empowerment Initiative is recruiting a Finance Officer to support the effective financial management of the organisation.
The Finance Officer will maintain accurate accounting records, monitor project budgets, process payments, support donor compliance and prepare timely financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records according to organisational and donor requirements.
- Prepare payment vouchers, process invoices and manage financial disbursements.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and regularly monitor organisational cash flow.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, project budgets and budget revisions.
- Monitor grant expenditure and ensure funds are used according to approved budgets.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Support payroll preparation and statutory remittances, including tax and pension obligations.
- Manage and monitor petty cash and field advances.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial transactions.
- Verify financial documentation and budget availability during procurement processes.
- Prepare financial schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, financial policies and Nigerian statutory requirements.
- Support programme staff to understand financial compliance and proper budget utilisation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- Minimum of two to three years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Previous experience with an NGO, humanitarian organisation or donor-funded project is preferred.
- ICAN, ACCA or another relevant professional certification is an advantage.
- Understanding of donor compliance, grants management and restricted funding.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage 50 or another recognised accounting system.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting and bank reconciliation.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
