Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION AND ROLE BACKGROUND

ALIMA is an international medical humanitarian organization providing care to vulnerable populations through partnerships, proximity and medical innovation. The Finance Coordinator will define and implement the finance department’s strategic direction and safeguard ALIMA’s financial resources in Nigeria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to mission strategy with the coordination team.
  • Implement and supervise compliance with ALIMA financial procedures and tools.
  • Strengthen financial controls and management quality across the mission.
  • Supervise accurate mission accounting using SAGA.
  • Define treasury-management procedures and protect organizational resources.
  • Monitor budgets, risks and expenditure forecasts for the mission and headquarters.
  • Build and monitor the ALIMA Nigeria mission budget and allocation table.
  • Prepare donor budgets, financial proposals and donor financial reports.
  • Recruit, supervise and manage the mission finance team.
  • Prevent fraud and corruption, alert headquarters to risks and maintain internal controls.
  • Plan audit preparation and implement finance-team training.
  • Train accounting assistants and base administrators in accounting entries, SAGA and cash management.
  • Supervise and strengthen the Deputy Finance Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Finance, Administration, Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of finance-management experience.
  • At least one year in a comparable position.
  • International medical NGO experience is an advantage.
  • Team-management experience and knowledge of institutional donors and financial reporting.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Mission budgeting; treasury and cash management; accounting and internal controls; donor reporting; audit preparation; fraud-risk management; Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. SAGA knowledge is desirable. English is mandatory and French is an advantage.

CONTRACT DETAILS

  • Full-time French-law contract for twelve months.
  • Expected start: As soon as possible.
  • Salary: Based on experience; exact amount not specified.
  • Per diem: USD 20.
  • Travel between the employee’s country of origin and mission is covered.
  • Accommodation and eligible medical coverage are provided.
  • Paid seven-working-day break after each three-month service period, with travel support up to €1,500.
