Position Description & Requirements

Save the Children is recruiting a Finance Assistant to support financial-management processes in its Ogoja Field Office.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Process approved financial transactions, payment requests and expense claims.
  • Prepare cheques and submit them to authorised signatories.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and other bank-related activities.
  • Support payments to programme participants and beneficiaries.
  • Maintain petty cash, manual cashbooks and cash-count records.
  • Reconcile and match transactions on the financial system.
  • Electronically archive payment vouchers, journal vouchers and supporting documents.
  • Maintain complete, labelled and audit-ready financial files.
  • Monitor document retrieval and return records.
  • Assist with account reconciliation, month-end processes and finance administration.
  • Ensure transactions comply with organisational and donor requirements.

Requirements:

  • HND, BSc or BCom in Accounting.
  • ACA, CNA, CITN or another professional qualification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of one year of finance or accounting experience.
  • NGO or international-development experience.
  • Familiarity with Agresso FMS and ProSave.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, record-keeping, filing and organisational skills.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and meet deadlines under pressure.

Contract details:

  • Full-time position.
  • Grade 5.
  • Six-month contract.
  • Reports to the Finance Officer.
