Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

ASVIOL Support Initiative is a Nigerian nonprofit organization. The Finance and Compliance Officer will strengthen financial management, reporting and compliance within the organization.

ROLE PURPOSE

The officer will oversee assigned financial records, budgeting processes, donor-fund compliance and routine financial reporting while supporting sound internal controls.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements, reports and management information.
  • Support annual and project budgeting and monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Track restricted grants and donor funds and ensure that expenditure is properly classified.
  • Review supporting documentation for payment and payable transactions.
  • Carry out accurate financial data entry and account reconciliation.
  • Support compliance with donor conditions, internal policies and applicable financial procedures.
  • Assist with audit preparation and respond to documentation requirements.
  • Identify financial discrepancies or compliance risks and escalate them promptly.
  • Maintain orderly electronic and physical finance records.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower Division in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Approximately two to five years of relevant finance or compliance experience.
  • Experience with an NGO, donor-funded programme or international organization is preferred.
  • ICAN membership or progress toward professional certification is desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
