Field Operations & Restoration Officer

GRENCHI is recruiting a Field Operations and Restoration Officer to lead practical nursery, restoration, agroforestry and field-monitoring activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead on-ground restoration activities across GRENCHI project sites.
• Establish and maintain germination beds, seedlings and community nurseries.
• Coordinate site preparation, planting, watering, weeding, pest management and hardening-off.
• Monitor seedling survival, diagnose dieback and organise corrective action or replanting.
• Coordinate field assistants, labourers, volunteers, tools, seedlings and logistics.
• Mobilise communities, schools and farmers for restoration and agroforestry activities.
• Provide practical guidance to smallholder farmers.
• Maintain accurate planting, survival-rate, site-condition and field-monitoring records.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• BSc or HND in Forestry, Wildlife, Ecology, Agriculture, Environmental Science or a related field.
• One to three years of hands-on restoration or other field-based experience.
• Practical knowledge of seed germination, potting, hardening-off, tree planting and seedling-loss diagnosis.
• Familiarity with GPS tools or mobile data-collection applications such as KoboCollect is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and Igbo is required.
