ABOUT NEW INCENTIVES
New Incentives – All Babies Are Equal Initiative is an evidence-based nonprofit organisation working to increase childhood vaccination coverage and reduce deaths from vaccine-preventable diseases.
The organisation provides conditional cash incentives to caregivers after eligible children receive routine vaccinations at participating public health facilities.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
This recruitment is primarily intended to establish a pool of qualified candidates for possible future programme expansion.

JOB SUMMARY
The Field Officer will enrol eligible caregivers and children at assigned public health facilities, facilitate conditional cash transfers, educate caregivers about routine immunisation and monitor the quality of immunisation services.
The role involves regular work at remote public clinics, direct interaction with caregivers, cash management, programme monitoring, community engagement and field reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conditional Cash-Transfer Activities
- Enrol eligible caregivers and children according to established programme criteria.
- Verify beneficiary information and prevent duplicate or unauthorised enrolment.
- Facilitate approved cash transfers after eligible vaccination visits.
- Maintain accurate enrolment, payment and cash-management records.
- Explain the child’s next vaccination date to caregivers.
- Encourage caregivers to complete their children’s immunisation schedules.
- Confirm that vaccinations are administered and properly recorded.
- Document vaccine stockouts, service interruptions and other reasons children are not served.
- Conduct health talks on immunisation benefits and possible side effects.
- Prevent fraud involving beneficiaries, health workers or programme personnel.
- Ensure children living outside authorised clinic catchment areas are not improperly enrolled.
- Submit required clinic, immunisation, cash and field-expense reports.
- Review child health cards, clinic registers, tally sheets and vaccination records.
- Ensure beneficiaries receive services without unnecessary delays.
Clinic and Community Activities
- Identify clinic-level challenges affecting enrolment and vaccination coverage.
- Recommend practical solutions to the Field Manager.
- Engage health workers and community stakeholders concerning programme challenges.
- Follow up with caregivers whose children miss scheduled vaccination visits.
- Investigate reasons for missed appointments while protecting beneficiary confidentiality.
- Conduct community awareness activities, surveys and rapid assessments.
- Prepare detailed reports after delegated activities.
- Support the distribution and documentation of approved clinic materials.
- Update programme progress information where required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain professional relationships with health workers, community leaders, traditional leaders, Imams, traditional birth attendants and LGA representatives.
- Communicate expected vaccine and supply requirements to clinic personnel.
- Report identified supply-chain, fraud, operational and security concerns.
- Coordinate with nonprofit partners and government stakeholders when required.
Safety and Security
- Comply with organisational security plans, procedures and movement instructions.
- Obtain security updates before travelling to field locations.
- Report security incidents immediately.
- Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of colleagues during field activities.
- Complete all mandatory security training.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Applicant must be a Nigerian citizen already residing in Niger State.
- Minimum qualification of SSCE.
- A diploma in Health, Natural Sciences or another relevant discipline is an advantage.
- Previous experience with public health facilities, routine immunisation or community programmes is desirable.
- Experience collecting, reviewing or interpreting health information is an advantage.
- Applicant must be willing to work in remote public clinics and use public transportation.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Fluency in Hausa and relevant Niger State languages or dialects.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage cash and financial records responsibly.
- Good communication and community-engagement skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, smartphones and internet applications.
- Strong integrity, reliability and commitment to reducing infant mortality.
- Ability to respond promptly to telephone calls, emails and work instructions.
