Job Overview

New Incentives — All Babies Are Equal (NI-ABAE) is recruiting Field Officers to support its programme aimed at improving routine infant immunization and reducing child mortality in northern Nigeria. Field Officers work at public health clinics and must already live in the operational LGA and ward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enrol eligible beneficiaries at public health clinics using established eligibility criteria.
  • Submit accurate enrollment records and maintain proper cash-management standards.
  • Explain next-visit dates to caregivers and encourage them to return to health facilities.
  • Verify vaccinations, review health cards and record vaccine or supply shortages.
  • Deliver health education on the benefits of immunization and anticipated side effects.
  • Help prevent fraud involving beneficiaries or health-facility personnel.
  • Engage communities and address local barriers affecting programme participation.
  • Support attendance at community immunization campaigns.
  • Identify clinic-level problems and communicate them to the Field Manager.
  • Engage clinic staff and community leaders to understand barriers to enrollment and vaccination.
  • Track children who miss appointments and follow up while protecting their information.
  • Conduct community awareness activities.
  • Complete field surveys in assigned communities and geographic areas.
  • Maintain good relationships with clinic staff, Imams, traditional birth attendants and local leaders.
  • Monitor vaccine and other supply levels and report shortages.
  • Respond to fraud, supply and security concerns in accordance with organizational procedures.
  • Follow security policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in required training, appraisals and special assignments.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • SSCE, Diploma, CHEW or a related qualification.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous NGO experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must be an indigene of the relevant LGA and currently live in the operational ward.
  • Must be willing to travel by public transport to remote public health clinics several days per week.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian clinic documentation, infant health and routine immunization.
  • Experience collecting, analysing and reporting health data.
  • Ability to manage project funds and cash carefully.
  • Proficiency with smartphones, internet browsers, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Experience

Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience. NGO experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Duties

The Field Officer will support beneficiary enrollment, immunization monitoring, caregiver education, community engagement, data collection, field surveys, supply monitoring and reporting at assigned public health clinics.
