ORGANIZATION AND ASSIGNMENT BACKGROUND
Data-Lead Africa is recruiting field enumerators for an endline evaluation of a climate-smart agriculture programme in Lagos and Ekiti States. The assignment involves grassroots data collection with farmers, traders and households in rural communities.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Field Enumerator will conduct accurate, respectful and reliable interviews, record responses using approved digital tools and support the production of quality evidence for the programme’s endline evaluation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct field interviews and surveys in assigned rural communities.
- Engage farmers, traders, households and other respondents professionally.
- Explain the purpose of the exercise and build respondent trust.
- Record and submit information accurately and completely.
- Follow the approved survey instrument, field protocols and quality requirements.
- Use KoboCollect, ODK or another assigned digital data-collection tool.
- Protect respondents’ information and report field difficulties to the supervising team.
- Attend compulsory training and assessment before deployment.
- Remain available for the confirmed training and fieldwork dates in August 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum qualification: HND, bachelor’s degree, postgraduate diploma, master’s degree or PhD.
- Applicants must live in the state where they intend to collect data.
- Previous experience with KoboCollect or ODK is assessed during the application.
- Agriculture or agro-allied data-collection experience is an advantage.
- First-time enumerators may apply but must explain their motivation and relevant ability.
- Applicants must provide details of a previous data-collection assignment where applicable.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Ability to read and write Yoruba is required.
- Knowledge of the Ekiti dialect is an added advantage.
- Ability to engage respondents respectfully in rural communities.
- Accuracy, attention to detail and adherence to data-quality procedures.
- Ability to use an Android smartphone with a working camera, GPS and sufficient storage.
- Field readiness, reliability and availability for the full assignment period.
