Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION AND PROJECT BACKGROUND

Malaria Consortium is implementing household surveys to evaluate Nigeria’s 2026 insecticide-treated net campaign. The work covers baseline, immediate post-campaign verification and one-month post-campaign survey activities.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Field Data Collector will collect accurate household-level information in selected Federal Capital Territory communities using approved mobile survey tools and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend survey training, tool review and field-practice sessions.
  • Obtain informed consent before interviewing household heads, women aged 15–49 and other eligible respondents.
  • Administer approved questionnaires accurately and respectfully.
  • Observe and document insecticide-treated nets and their physical condition when required by the protocol.
  • Capture data electronically using SurveyCTO, ODK or another approved platform.
  • Review each submission for completeness and consistency before uploading.
  • Protect respondent confidentiality and follow data-protection procedures.
  • Cooperate with supervisors during spot checks, back-checks and correction of identified errors.
  • Report field constraints, respondent concerns and technical problems promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in a health-related field, social sciences or another relevant discipline.
  • Approximately one to two years of relevant household-survey or field-data-collection experience.
  • Previous experience using SurveyCTO, ODK or a comparable mobile data-collection platform.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Hausa and Gbagyi language ability is an advantage for the Federal Capital Territory assignment.
