Position Description & Requirements

ActionAid Nigeria is seeking a consultant to conduct research on donor funding priorities for Women’s Rights Organizations as a sustainable funding mechanism.

The consultancy is under the Renewed Women Voices in Leadership project, supported by Global Affairs Canada. The assignment will analyse donor funding priorities, trends and mechanisms in order to identify sustainable and accessible funding opportunities for Women’s Rights Organizations in Nigeria and beyond.

Key responsibilities include mapping bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic and private sector donors supporting women’s rights and gender equality; analysing donor priorities, thematic focus areas and funding trends; assessing the accessibility of funding to grassroots and national WROs; identifying barriers and enabling factors affecting access to donor funding; proposing innovative funding mechanisms; and producing actionable recommendations for strategic donor engagement.

Deliverables include an inception report, donor mapping matrix and database, draft research report, final research report, policy brief or executive summary, and PowerPoint presentation of findings.

Required qualifications include at least 7 years of experience conducting similar research, experience in donor scoping and fundraising analysis, an advanced degree in Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, Gender or a related field, strong understanding of women’s rights and feminist movements, experience working with WROs or civil society organisations, and excellent analytical, writing and communication skills.
