ABOUT ACTION AGAINST HUNGER
Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organisation working to end hunger and support communities affected by crises. Its programmes cover health, nutrition, WASH, mental health and psychosocial support, food security and livelihoods, and social protection. Operations in Nigeria began in 2010. Its integrated humanitarian and development interventions serve Northeast and Northwest Nigeria, supported by AFD, EU/ECHO, the French Government, GAC, GFFO, SIDA, the US Government and WAM Foundation.

ROLE PURPOSE
Support MEAL and/or programme teams to collect accurate qualitative and quantitative data. Conduct beneficiary registration and verification and household surveys under the direct supervision of ACF staff, using paper or mobile tools.
DATA COLLECTION AND FIELD MONITORING
- Support routine monitoring of project activities across ACF-supported sites.
- Supervise enumerators’ daily work, conduct spot checks and ensure data quality.
- Locate and validate respondents before questionnaires are administered.
- Provide technical support on data-collection tools when needed.
- Coordinate field-team movements to reach the required number of respondents on schedule.
- Follow the approved methodology and validated terms of reference.
- Ensure enumerators handle data-collection devices properly.
ACCOUNTABILITY
- Refer beneficiary cases and complaints to the accountability unit.
- Provide feedback and complaint forms to stakeholders when required.
- Give field supervisors feedback after each day of data collection.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A diploma in science, social sciences or another relevant field is explicitly required. The official advert also mentions SSCE alongside the diploma.
- Previous field-data-collection and related experience is required; the official advert does not clearly specify a number of years.
- Written and spoken English and at least two local languages, especially Hausa, Kanuri, Fulani or Shuwa.
- Previous smartphone-based data-collection experience and ability to work well in a team.
- Experience interpreting and translating between multiple languages.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and partners.
- Knowledge of survey procedures and data-quality techniques.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of local conditions and community dynamics, including cultural, gender and protection issues, with the ability to communicate effectively in local languages.
- Previous NGO experience.
- Commitment to humanitarian and development principles and understanding of conflict and post-conflict development contexts.

- Perform other related tasks as assigned and communicate progress and achievements.
- Remain flexible and adaptable in implementing daily activities.
