JOB SUMMARY
The Driver will provide safe, reliable and timely transportation services to support the implementation of the ASPIRE Project in Sokoto State.
The successful candidate will transport staff, visitors and project materials while ensuring that Plan International Nigeria’s vehicles are maintained in good working condition and operated in accordance with organisational policies and road safety regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide safe and timely transportation for staff, visitors and authorised personnel.
- Ensure that assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy and properly maintained through routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel records and maintenance reports.
- Ensure that all vehicle movements comply with Plan International Nigeria’s transport and travel policies.
- Report vehicle faults, accidents and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Safely transport project equipment, documents and other materials when required.
- Ensure that vehicles contain essential safety equipment, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers and other emergency items.
- Dispatch and deliver official documents and materials to partners, vendors and relevant stakeholders.
- Support administrative and logistics activities, including sourcing quotations for procurement when required.
- Safeguard Plan International Nigeria’s assets and ensure they are not left unattended inside vehicles.
- Comply with safeguarding, child protection, gender equality, inclusion and protection from sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse standards.
- Support the operational activities of the office and collaborate with programme and operations team members.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Ordinary Level or Advanced Level Certificate.
- Valid Class B Driver’s Licence.
- Minimum of three years of professional driving experience, including experience in vehicle maintenance.
- Previous experience working with an NGO or development organisation is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of road networks within Sokoto State and other North-Central and North-West states.
- Ability to confidently drive Hilux vehicles.
- Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
