Plan International is an independent humanitarian and development organization working to advance children’s rights and equality for girls. It works with children, communities, partners and governments to address poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Driver will provide safe, dependable and timely transportation to support implementation of the ASPIRE Project in Sokoto State.
The post holder will transport employees, visitors, project materials and official documents while keeping assigned vehicles safe, clean, roadworthy and properly documented. The driver will also provide administrative and logistical assistance when required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide safe and timely transportation for employees, visitors and other authorized personnel.
- Conduct routine inspections and ensure assigned vehicles remain clean and roadworthy.
- Support preventive maintenance and report faults, accidents and repair requirements promptly.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel records and maintenance reports.
- Ensure vehicle movements comply with Plan International’s transport, travel and road-safety requirements.
- Transport project equipment, documents and other materials safely.
- Ensure vehicles contain required safety equipment, including first-aid kits and fire extinguishers.
- Dispatch and deliver official documents and materials to partners, vendors and other stakeholders.
- Support administrative and logistics activities, including obtaining procurement quotations when requested.
- Safeguard organizational assets and ensure they are not left unattended in vehicles.
- Comply with safeguarding, child-protection, gender-equality, inclusion and PSHEA requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Ordinary Level or Advanced Level Certificate.
- Valid Class B driver’s licence.
- At least three years of professional driving experience, including vehicle-maintenance responsibilities.
- Experience working with an NGO or development organization is advantageous.
- Good knowledge of road networks in Sokoto State and other North-West and North-Central states.
- Ability to drive Hilux vehicles confidently.
- Basic computer ability, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
