Data Specialist, NOC

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office is recruiting a Data Specialist at NO-C level in Abuja. This fixed-term position is open to Nigerian nationals only and is initially available for one year.

The role develops databases, data-collection systems and analytics strategies; identifies trends using statistical methods; creates reports, dashboards and visualisations; establishes data-quality and documentation standards; produces analytical reports and briefing inputs; collaborates with data engineers, data scientists, UN agencies, government counterparts and NGOs; builds staff capacity; supports statistical-system assessments; conducts mixed-method outcome and contribution analysis; and strengthens monitoring, evaluation and learning processes.

Education:

• Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information/Data Management, Information Systems, Information Science, Economics, Social Sciences or a related field.
• A relevant bachelor’s degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted instead.

Experience and skills:

• At least five years of progressively responsible experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
• Demonstrated data-storytelling and visualisation skills using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik and R.
• Required experience performing quality assurance of analytical outputs.
• Data validation and experience supporting research, knowledge management or programme/project management in development cooperation are desirable.
• English at UN Level II is required.

Assessment may include a written test followed by a competency-based interview.
