Background
Resilient Communities Support Initiative is implementing the Community Insight and Needs Mapping Project in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The project will collect community-level information to better understand priority needs, existing services, vulnerabilities, service gaps and opportunities for future community-based interventions.
The organisation is recruiting Data Collectors/Enumerators to support household interviews, community assessments, service mapping and other field data collection activities across selected wards and communities in Maiduguri.
Position Information
Position: Data Collector/Enumerator
Duty Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
Assignment Duration: 15 days
Daily Payment: ₦10,000
Total Payment: ₦150,000 for the completed 15-day assignment
Engagement Type: Temporary field assignment
Number of Positions: Multiple positions
Payment will be based on attendance, satisfactory completion of assigned tasks, submission of accurate data and compliance with the organisation’s field procedures.
Purpose of the Assignment
The Data Collectors will support the Community Insight and Needs Mapping Project by conducting interviews and collecting accurate information from households, individuals, community representatives and other selected respondents.
The collected information will help the project identify community priorities, vulnerabilities, available services and major gaps affecting people living in Maiduguri.
Key Responsibilities
The selected Data Collectors will:
Attend and actively participate in the compulsory training and briefing before deployment.
Review and understand the questionnaire, interview procedures and field instructions.
Conduct household and community-level interviews using KoboCollect or another approved digital data collection tool.
Introduce the project clearly to respondents and obtain informed consent before beginning interviews.
Ask all questions professionally, respectfully and without influencing respondents’ answers.
Enter complete and accurate information into the approved data collection form.
Review each completed questionnaire before submitting it.
Collect authorised GPS coordinates, photographs or other supporting information where required.
Work in assigned wards and communities within Maiduguri.
Follow daily movement plans and instructions provided by the Field Supervisor.
Report field challenges, respondent concerns, security issues and technical problems promptly.
Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of all respondents.
Protect project devices, documents and information assigned for the activity.
Avoid creating false expectations or promising respondents cash, food, employment or assistance.
Correct identified data errors according to the instructions of the supervisor.
Participate in daily debriefing and data-quality review sessions.
Complete the daily target assigned by the project without compromising data quality.
Submit all completed forms within the agreed reporting period.
Follow the organisation’s code of conduct, safeguarding standards and data-protection procedures.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should have:
A minimum of a Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
The ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with respondents.
The ability to write a short field report in English.
Good knowledge of Maiduguri and its surrounding communities.
The ability to speak at least one relevant local language, such as Hausa, Kanuri, Babur, Shuwa Arabic or Fulfulde.
Access to a functional Android smartphone.
Access to a functional power bank.
Availability for the complete 15-day assignment.
Willingness to work in different wards and communities within Maiduguri.
Willingness to work on weekends where required.
Willingness to work in informal settlements, rural communities or hard-to-reach locations when appropriate security arrangements are provided.
Experience
Previous experience in any of the following areas will be an advantage:
Household surveys
Community needs assessments
Beneficiary registration or verification
Community mapping
Service mapping
Baseline or endline surveys
Post-distribution monitoring
Health, nutrition, WASH, food security or livelihood assessments
Working with community leaders, vulnerable households, internally displaced persons or returnees
Using KoboCollect, KoboToolbox, ODK or similar digital data collection tools
Applicants without previous data collection experience may also apply, provided they meet the other requirements and are willing to participate fully in the project training.

Equipment Requirements
Applicants must:
Own or have reliable access to a functional Android smartphone.
Have access to a functional power bank.
Be able to keep the phone charged throughout field activities.
Be willing to install and use KoboCollect or another approved application.
Be responsible for the safety and proper use of their personal device during the assignment.
Safeguarding and Confidentiality
All selected Data Collectors will be required to:
Sign and comply with the organisation’s code of conduct.
Respect the dignity, privacy and safety of all respondents.
Obtain informed consent before conducting interviews.
Keep respondents’ personal information confidential.
Avoid sharing completed questionnaires, photographs or respondent information with unauthorised individuals.
Report any safeguarding concern, harassment, exploitation, abuse or misconduct immediately.
Avoid discrimination based on gender, age, disability, ethnicity, religion, displacement status or economic condition.
Avoid collecting information that is not included in the approved questionnaire.
Any falsification of data, misconduct, breach of confidentiality or violation of safeguarding procedures may result in immediate removal from the assignment without further engagement.
Duration and Payment
The assignment will run for 15 days.
Selected Data Collectors will receive a daily payment of ₦10,000, amounting to ₦150,000 for the complete 15-day assignment.
Payment will be subject to:
Full participation in the required training.
Attendance during assigned field days.
Completion of assigned questionnaires.
Submission of accurate and complete data.
Compliance with field instructions and reporting requirements.
Satisfactory confirmation of work by the Field Supervisor.
Duty Location
This recruitment is specifically for applicants who currently reside in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Applicants must be willing and able to work in different wards and communities within Maiduguri during the assignment.
