Malaria Consortium is recruiting qualified Data Collectors to support an End-of-Round evaluation in Kebbi State.
The assessment forms part of the SARMAAN II Project, which is studying the safety and impact of mass administration of azithromycin among children aged 1–59 months.
Purpose of the Assignment
The assignment will engage research personnel to conduct household-level data collection for an End-of-Round evaluation using the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling methodology.
The evaluation will assess campaign coverage, treatment-protocol compliance and the general quality of implementation.
The findings will identify wards that fall below the required performance level and guide corrective measures for future rounds.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the compulsory two-day training for Data Collectors.
Learn the evaluation protocol, questionnaire, interview procedures and electronic data-collection system.
Visit assigned households within selected communities.
Administer the approved questionnaire to eligible respondents.
Obtain informed consent before conducting interviews.
Record respondents’ answers accurately and objectively.
Conduct interviews using KoboCollect, SurveyCTO or another approved electronic platform.
Upload completed questionnaires to the central server daily.
Review submitted forms for accuracy, completeness and consistency.
Correct errors identified by supervisors during data-quality reviews.
Follow approved household-selection and replacement procedures.
Protect respondents’ personal information and maintain confidentiality.
Report daily progress and field challenges to the assigned supervisor.
Meet the agreed household-interview and submission targets.
Work in remote communities within Kebbi State.
Respect the traditions and culture of the communities visited.
Submit complete and verified household-interview datasets within the project timeline.
Follow Malaria Consortium’s safeguarding, ethical and professional-conduct standards.
Deliverables
The Data Collector will be expected to:
Complete the technical training and demonstrate understanding of the tools.
Conduct all assigned household interviews.
Upload completed survey forms daily.
Resolve incomplete or inconsistent entries identified by the supervisor.
Submit accurate and verified data within the approved timeframe.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or HND in Social Sciences, Public Health, Health Sciences or a related field.
At least two years’ experience conducting public-health research or field data collection.
Experience using smartphones or tablets for electronic surveys.
Familiarity with KoboCollect, SurveyCTO, ODK or related data-collection tools.
Previous experience conducting LQAS surveys is an advantage.
Ability to speak Hausa or another relevant local language.
Familiarity with the terrain, customs and traditions of Kebbi State.
Applicant must be a resident of Kebbi State.
Willingness to work in remote locations.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and follow strict instructions.
Eligibility Restrictions
Applicants must:
Not be government employees at any level.
Not be participating in the MDA-AZM campaign in any national, state, LGA, health-facility, community-health or technical-assistance capacity.
Not have been blacklisted during previous activities.
