Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

Malaria Consortium is an international nonprofit organization specializing in malaria prevention, control and treatment, alongside wider communicable-disease and public-health programmes.

ASSIGNMENT PURPOSE

Malaria Consortium is engaging Data Collectors to conduct a household survey in Ondo State. The survey will assess insecticide-treated net ownership, usage, physical condition, malaria prevention during pregnancy, treatment-seeking behaviour and related indicators.

SURVEY METHODOLOGY

The survey will cover 832 households across 52 wards selected through population-proportional-to-size sampling.

Data Collectors will enumerate households and conduct interviews with household heads and women aged 15 to 49 using mobile devices and SurveyCTO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend the required training before field deployment.
  • Enumerate households in selected settlements and wards.
  • Obtain written informed consent before conducting interviews.
  • Interview household heads and women aged 15 to 49.
  • Collect information on ITN ownership, usage and physical integrity.
  • Conduct back-check interviews within selected household samples.
  • Protect the confidentiality and personal information of respondents.
  • Safeguard the mobile device assigned for data collection.
  • Ensure mobile-device batteries remain charged during fieldwork.
  • Upload completed data to the SurveyCTO server at the required frequency.
  • Report field challenges to the Team Leader and support their resolution.
  • Follow approved survey procedures, sampling guidance and data-quality requirements.

DELIVERABLES

  • Complete interview data from assigned households uploaded to the SurveyCTO server daily.
  • Written informed consent obtained and documented for all respondents.
  • Back-check interview data completed and uploaded for assigned households.
  • Accurate and complete household enumeration records.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc or HND in a health-related discipline, Social Sciences or another relevant field.
  • Between one and two years of experience conducting household surveys.
  • Experience using electronic data-collection platforms such as SurveyCTO or ODK.
  • Good knowledge of English.
  • Excellent proficiency in both Yoruba and Ijaw.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and pay close attention to details.
