Cook/Cleaner – Daily Worker Pool

JOB SUMMARY

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF France) is building a daily-worker pool for Cook/Cleaner assignments in Abuja. This is not a permanent or ongoing employment position. Inclusion in the pool does not guarantee work, a minimum number of days, or future contact. Assignments depend on operational needs, timing, duration and location.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare meals in accordance with instructions, menus, hygiene rules and agreed schedules.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene; clean work surfaces, utensils and equipment and store food safely.
• Monitor food stocks, prepare shopping lists and report shortages or losses.
• Set tables, ensure drinking water is available, and keep kitchen and dining equipment organised.
• Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, toilets, offices and common areas, including floors, tables, windows and other surfaces.
• Collect and dispose of waste correctly; wash or change curtains, duvet covers, sofa covers and pillowcases when required.
• Keep premises secure by closing and locking designated areas after cleaning.
• Use cleaning products and appliances safely, report maintenance needs, and store materials correctly.
• Maintain inventories and promptly report damaged, missing or lost items.
• Work cooperatively with the team and adapt to changing assignment requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

• Literacy is essential.
• A cooking course or relevant vocational training is desirable.
• Previous cooking and/or professional cleaning experience is desirable.
• Fluency in the local language is essential; knowledge of the mission language is desirable.
• Commitment to MSF principles, results orientation, teamwork, flexibility, service orientation and ability to manage stress.
