Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices is a result-driven social enterprise using modern management and marketing approaches to expand access to reproductive healthcare and related services. It is part of the MSI Reproductive Choices global partnership.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Compliance Officer will support independent, objective assurance and risk evaluation that adds value and improves MSI Nigeria's operations. The officer will help the audit team evaluate and strengthen risk management, internal control and governance processes and present clear recommendations to management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support development and implementation of MSI Nigeria's annual audit plan.
  • Identify internal and external risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Work with departments on policy development and modification.
  • Evaluate projects, business processes and transactions to assess controls and risk reduction.
  • Assess compliance with organizational policies, standards, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Review whether resources are acquired economically, used efficiently and adequately protected.
  • Promote quality and continuous improvement in control processes.
  • Support anti-fraud and anti-bribery training and sensitization.
  • Conduct risk-based audits covering finance, procurement, vendor management, inventory, fleet and fixed assets.
  • Review financial and operational transactions for compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct petty-cash reviews, cash counts and expenditure verification.
  • Assess procurement and vendor-management processes for transparency, value for money and compliance.
  • Perform inventory and warehouse audits, stock verification and reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Review fuel usage, vehicle utilization, maintenance and other fleet controls.
  • Verify the existence, safeguarding, movement and disposal of fixed assets.
  • Provide spot checks and compliance oversight for assigned regional operations and the Abuja Support Office.
  • Monitor corrective actions and support investigations into fraud, misconduct and policy violations.
  • Identify control weaknesses and recommend practical improvements.
  • Prepare periodic audit reports for the Audit Manager.
  • Undertake other tasks assigned by the Country Director, line manager or another authorized supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • At least two years of post-NYSC experience in a similar role.
  • Membership of a recognized professional body such as ACCA, ACA or CIA is an advantage.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to prepare concise audit reports.
