Position: Community Liaison Focal Point
Employment Type: Full-time

Locations: Selected communities in Borno and Yobe States
JOB SUMMARY
The Community Liaison Focal Point will support communication, coordination and engagement between the project, affected communities, government representatives and other stakeholders.
The position will help ensure that community concerns, feedback, operational challenges and information concerning explosive-ordnance incidents are properly collected, documented and communicated.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate assigned community, LGA and state-level stakeholder engagements.
- Implement activities according to the project implementation plan.
- Follow organisational programme-quality standards and donor requirements.
- Identify and report implementation challenges and gaps.
- Recommend adjustments to activity plans and implementation schedules.
- Support partners to document and reflect on stakeholder-engagement experiences.
- Brief LGA stakeholders on project activities and progress.
- Secure necessary community and government support for programme implementation.
- Ensure stakeholder feedback is shared with senior management.
- Promote a consistent organisational approach to community engagement and feedback.
- Gather information concerning explosive-ordnance accidents and survivors.
- Immediately report identified incidents to the supervisor.
- Gather information demonstrating the impact of programme activities.
- Prepare case studies, success stories and activity reports.
- Submit clear, accurate and timely documentation.
- Coordinate daily with the Team Leader.
- Report security incidents, contextual changes and noncompliance concerns.
- Represent the organisation before communities, partners and other stakeholders.
- Perform additional assignments provided by the Team Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- OND, HND or bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Development Studies or another relevant discipline.
- At least one year of experience as a liaison focal point, public-relations officer or in a similar community-facing position.
- Applicant must be an indigene or resident of Borno or Yobe State.
- Strong understanding of the language and culture of the preferred implementation location.
- Previous humanitarian or community-engagement experience is an advantage.
- Understanding of child safeguarding is required.
- Applicant should have a functional laptop.

- Excellent liaison, negotiation and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Strong organisation and time management.
- Ability to convert information into timely action.
- Strong presentation and community-facilitation skills.
- Ability to build relationships with diverse community groups.
- Ability to manage several assignments and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in English and either Kanuri or Hausa.
- Knowledge of additional languages used in the implementation area is an advantage.
