Position Description & Requirements
DEAN Initiative, with support from Rise Up Together, is inviting applications from young women for the VAPP Community GBV Champions Programme.
The programme will select and train 30 young women to serve as community advocates for Gender-Based Violence prevention, public awareness, survivor support and the local implementation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be female.
- Applicants must be between 15 and 35 years old.
- Applicants must reside in Gwagwalada, Kuje or Kwali Area Council.
- Applicants should demonstrate an interest in women’s rights, advocacy, community development or social justice.
- Applicants must be available to participate in project activities and conduct community outreach.
- Applicants should possess basic communication skills and have strong ties to their communities.
Selected volunteers will participate in specialised training on GBV prevention and response, the VAPP Act, community advocacy, public speaking, media engagement, survivor referral pathways and awareness campaigns.
Benefits include mentorship, practical advocacy experience, leadership and communication skills, a certificate of participation and financial-support stipends for approved community-engagement activities.
