ABOUT SNV
SNV is a mission-driven global development partner that works with governments, the private sector and civil society to strengthen systems and improve lives. This learning placement will support communications across SNV Nigeria’s programmes and operations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Intern will provide practical support for digital communications, storytelling, brand visibility, knowledge management and the documentation of programme results. The role is a 12-month internship/NYSC learning placement based in Abuja.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop digital content using photographs, graphics, infographics and other visual formats.
- Draft and package impact stories, success stories and human-interest content from programme activities.
- Help ensure that communications products follow SNV’s corporate identity and brand standards.
- Support the production of graphics, presentations, infographics and short videos.
- Assist with monitoring digital performance and organising basic communications analytics.
- Organise, label and upload photographs and videos to the designated SharePoint folders.
- Work with programme managers and technical teams to identify results and stories worth documenting.
- Document workshops, field visits, stakeholder meetings and programme events.
- Translate technical information into clear, accessible content for different audiences.
- Support the preparation of presentations, briefs, reports and digital records.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Communication, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Marketing, Development Studies or a related field.
- Applicant must be a Nigerian national.
- Current NYSC member with a valid deployment to Abuja, or a graduate who completed NYSC no more than one year ago.
- Strong interest in digital-first communications, storytelling and development work.
- Ability to write clearly and work with photographs, graphics or video.
- Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Trello or Hootsuite is helpful.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail, collaboration and willingness to learn.
