Helen Keller International is recruiting two Janitors to maintain clean, hygienic and orderly office premises in Bauchi and Niger State, Nigeria. Applicants should possess a minimum of a secondary school certificate, basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and cleaning equipment, and the ability to perform routine cleaning tasks. Previous cleaning or janitorial experience is an added advantage.

Scope of the Position

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene and orderliness of office premises to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for staff and visitors. The role supports the overall operations of the organisation by ensuring facilities are clean, functional and well-maintained in line with organisational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1.Clean and sanitise office spaces, including workstations, meeting rooms, restrooms, kitchens and common areas.
2.Sweep, mop, vacuum and dust floors, furniture and equipment regularly.
3.Empty waste bins and ensure proper waste disposal in line with hygiene standards.
4.Replenish supplies such as soap, tissue paper and hand sanitisers.
5.Ensure the cleanliness and proper arrangement of office furniture and equipment.
6.Report maintenance issues, including plumbing problems, electrical faults and damage, to the supervisor promptly.
7.Support office setup for meetings and events by arranging chairs and cleaning meeting rooms before and after use.
8.Follow health and safety guidelines when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
9.Ensure cleaning activities meet organisational hygiene and safety standards.
10.Store cleaning materials and equipment properly after use.
11.Monitor cleaning supplies and inform the supervisor when restocking is needed.
12.Use cleaning materials appropriately to minimise waste.

Required Qualifications and Skills

1.Minimum of a secondary school certificate.
2.Prior experience in cleaning or janitorial services is an added advantage.
3.Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and the use of cleaning equipment.
4.Good physical condition and ability to perform routine cleaning tasks.
5.Honesty, reliability and attention to detail.
