Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

Bridgeway Impact & Empowerment Foundation is a Nigerian nonprofit founded in 2024. It works on education, protection, community resilience, peacebuilding and sustainable development in vulnerable communities across Northern Nigeria.

ROLE PURPOSE

Case Worker Volunteers will support education and protection activities in internally displaced persons’ camps and host communities. The position involves identifying vulnerable people, providing basic psychosocial support, facilitating referrals, engaging communities and supporting field implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain professional relationships with community leaders, government authorities, partners and participants.
  • Conduct sensitization on education, child protection, safeguarding, social cohesion, conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
  • Mobilize communities and promote participation by women, children, young people, older people and persons with disabilities.
  • Identify vulnerable individuals and households with education or protection concerns.
  • Refer identified cases to appropriate services.
  • Provide basic psychosocial support and conduct follow-up visits.
  • Support data collection, assessments, monitoring and community-feedback mechanisms.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate with community structures, camp management and local authorities.
  • Comply with confidentiality, humanitarian and safeguarding requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma, NCE, ND, HND or bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Community Development, Public Health, Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science or a related discipline.
  • Previous humanitarian, development, education, protection, volunteer or community-programme experience is advantageous.
  • Understanding of community engagement, case management, safeguarding or protection principles.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Communication, facilitation, interpersonal skills, report writing, documentation, basic Microsoft Word and Excel, integrity, empathy, teamwork, accountability and confidentiality. Fluency in English is required; Hausa and Kanuri are advantages.
