JOB SUMMARY
The Business Development Specialist will drive grants acquisition and business development by identifying and assessing funding opportunities, strengthening donor and partner relationships, and leading or supporting high-quality proposals and related materials. The role will manage the business-development pipeline, provide donor and market intelligence, support client engagements and assigned workstreams, and help build staff capacity in grants and proposal development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement HSDF’s business-development strategy, processes and pipeline-management systems.
- Monitor donor priorities, market trends and emerging opportunities across local and international development.
- Provide donor intelligence and opportunity analysis for bilateral, multilateral and other development partners.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships and consortium opportunities.
- Lead or support proposals, concept notes, expressions of interest, budgets, capability statements and other funding materials.
- Produce pipeline, opportunity, win/loss and strategic-action reports for management.
- Support organizational strategy, positioning, visibility, client delivery and staff capacity development.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university; a Master’s or Doctorate is preferred.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in business development, fundraising, grants acquisition, proposal development or client development, preferably in public health, international development, consulting or a related sector.
- Strong analytical, writing, communication, project-management and Microsoft Office skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and demonstrated ability to work sensitively in Nigeria or comparable low- and middle-income settings.
WORK ARRANGEMENT
Consultancy; onsite in Abuja, Nigeria.
