JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Manager will lead funding-development efforts across Christian Aid’s West and Central Africa Multi-Country Cluster. The position is responsible for expanding the institutional funding portfolio, developing donor relationships and strengthening funding pipelines and strategic partnerships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support achievement of institutional income targets across the Multi-Country Cluster.
  • Develop donor-engagement strategies and strengthen regional funding pipelines.
  • Identify new funding opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Build relationships with governments, multilateral organisations, foundations and institutional donors.
  • Develop high-quality funding proposals aligned with programme and donor priorities.
  • Build networks with donors, consortium partners, peers and implementing agencies.
  • Coordinate closely with programme, partnership and contracts teams.
  • Support onboarding of newly funded programmes.
  • Strengthen donor relationships throughout contract implementation.
  • Support compliance, accountability and quality assurance of funded programmes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong record of securing multi-million-pound grants for NGOs.
  • Extensive experience developing relationships with institutional donors and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience developing large, complex programme budgets.
  • Advanced understanding of institutional donor landscapes and emerging funding trends.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary bid teams.
  • Strong knowledge of project design, M&E approaches and grant budgeting.
  • Significant humanitarian-programming experience.
  • Experience working with UN, bilateral and NGO donors.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is desirable.
  • Donor compliance training or relevant certification is advantageous.
