Position Description & Requirements

ActionAid Nigeria is recruiting a Building Project Manager to coordinate the actualisation of its building project in Abuja. The consultant will work with ActionAid Nigeria management to co-create the design, planning and management of the construction project.

The Project Manager will work with external architects and engineers from design through implementation and completion. The role is responsible for ensuring that multidisciplinary teams work smoothly, project timelines are met, costs are controlled and the building project is delivered within budget and on time.

Key responsibilities include developing project plans, setting milestones and timelines, identifying project risks, managing budgets and resources, providing scheduled updates to the Board and General Assembly Building Committee, managing changes in scope and cost, measuring performance, escalating challenges, managing stakeholder relationships, maintaining documentation such as BOQs and design drawings, and ensuring contractor compliance with safety, security and industry regulations.

Required qualifications include an advanced degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Technology or another relevant field. Applicants should be certified Project Managers with at least 10 years post-NYSC experience, experience leading complex building or civil engineering projects, experience using project management systems and tools, membership of relevant professional bodies, strong leadership skills and understanding of the Nigerian building regulatory context.
