Position Description & Requirements
JOB SUMMARY
The Internal Auditor will manage audit activities for an assigned state and independently assess clinic operations, staff performance, cash-management procedures and compliance with organisational standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Audit Activities
- Conduct objective audits of programme and clinic operations.
- Assess compliance with New Incentives policies and procedures.
- Evaluate the risk of fraud involving staff, clinic workers, beneficiaries or community members.
- Interview beneficiaries and stakeholders concerning programme challenges.
- Conduct confidential field investigations involving specific employees or operational areas.
- Review adherence to routine immunisation procedures.
- Assess employee compliance with cash-management processes.
- Report security concerns communicated by staff, caregivers and stakeholders.
- Confirm whether approved clinic gifts are distributed according to schedule.
- Verify that programme-progress posters are updated.
- Analyse fraud and financial-loss risks.
- Recommend controls to reduce identified risks.
- Ensure audits are completed and reported promptly.
Special Audits
- Conduct special audits relating to disciplinary or operational cases.
- Collect and protect supporting evidence.
- Escalate serious findings through the appropriate channels.
Security Responsibilities
- Report all security incidents within operational areas.
- Take responsibility for personal safety during field assignments.
- Follow organisational security SOPs and the Country Security Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- BSc or HND in Accounting or Finance.
- A master’s degree, ICAN or ACCA certification is an advantage.
- At least two years of experience as an Auditor or field employee involved in operational activities.
- Good understanding of auditing, risk management and compliance.
- Experience with the Nigerian health system and clinic documentation is desirable.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability.
- Attention to financial matters and fund management.
- High level of reliability and professional integrity.
- Strong organisation and documentation skills.
- Good spoken and written English and Hausa.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, smartphones and digital communication tools.
- Familiarity with accounting software.
- Ability to handle confidential investigations professionally.
