Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Initiative Nigeria, formerly known as Netherlands Leprosy Relief Nigeria, is an indigenous nonprofit organisation working to strengthen the prevention, detection, treatment and control of leprosy and tuberculosis in Nigeria. The organisation is recruiting a qualified and experienced Assistant Finance Officer to support the implementation and financial management of its Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 programme in Plateau State.\ JOB DETAILS • Job Title: Assistant Finance Officer • Job Reference Number: LTR (FAU)/2026/AFO/002 • Location: Plateau State • Job Type: Full-time • Work Arrangement: Onsite • Department: Finance • Reports To: State Technical Officer • Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years • Application Deadline: 2 August 2026\ JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Finance Officer will support the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions at the state level. The successful candidate will assist with the organisation’s day-to-day financial activities and ensure that supporting documents for every budget line comply with the Global Fund-approved Means of Verification and financial documentation checklist. The officer will also work closely with the headquarters finance team on payment processing, budget tracking and financial reporting. Under the supervision of the State Technical Officer, the Assistant Finance Officer will provide direct financial and operational support to the programme implementation team for the Global Fund Community Private Public Mix Grant Cycle 7 programme.\ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Support the day-to-day financial management and fiscal control of assigned projects. • Work closely with budget holders to monitor project spending and ensure that expenditures remain within approved budgets. • Enter financial transactions daily into the organisation’s financial management system. • Maintain accurate and complete financial records using QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel or other approved accounting tools. • Maintain project cashbooks and ensure that all entries are properly supported. • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements. • Function as the state grant finance officer for the Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 programme. • Prepare and capture monthly journal vouchers relating to reports submitted by sub-recipients and implementing partners. • Review financial documents submitted by sub-recipients, treatment centres, laboratories and other implementing partners. • Ensure that all financial documents comply with the Global Fund Means of Verification requirements. • Maintain custody of cheque books, payment vouchers, supporting documents and bank-transfer instructions. • Ensure the proper filing and safe custody of retirement documents and supporting financial records. • Review monthly retirements submitted by treatment centres, laboratories and other implementing partners. • Liaise with the headquarters finance team regarding payments, supporting documentation and budget tracking. • Support the preparation and processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. • Remit withholding tax and other statutory deductions within the required period. • Support the preparation of financial schedules and reports. • Assist with internal and external audits when required. • Ensure that financial records are accurate, complete and readily available for review. • Maintain confidentiality when handling financial and organisational information. • Perform any other finance-related responsibility assigned by the State Technical Officer.\ EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Accountancy or another relevant Social Science discipline. • Membership or partial professional certification with ICAN, ACCA or another recognised accounting body will be an added advantage. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in an NGO, grant-funded programme or similar operational environment. • Previous experience supporting NGO finance or grant-management activities is required. • Experience implementing or supporting a Global Fund-financed programme will be an added advantage. • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation and budget monitoring is desirable. • Previous experience working with sub-recipients, implementing partners or donor-funded projects is an advantage.\ REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES • Good knowledge of accounting and financial-management procedures. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel. • Good working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software. • Ability to maintain accurate financial records. • Strong analytical and numerical skills. • Good written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. • Strong attention to detail. • Good organisational and filing skills. • Ability to relate professionally with colleagues, supervisors, implementing partners and subordinates. • High level of integrity and accountability. • Ability to identify financial-documentation errors and recommend corrective action. • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment.\ DESIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES • Honest and dependable. • Innovative and willing to improve financial processes. • Able to maintain confidentiality. • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Committed to accurate financial reporting and donor compliance. • Able to communicate financial issues clearly to programme and operations staff.\ HOW TO APPLY Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications through the application page using the link provided above.
