ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
IMPACT Initiatives is an applied-research organization providing humanitarian actors with data and analysis for evidence-based decision-making. Its initiatives include REACH, AGORA and PANDA.
REACH supports humanitarian decisions through data collection, management and analysis in crisis-affected locations. IMPACT’s programmes operate in support of humanitarian-coordination structures.
ROLE PURPOSE
This global recruitment call will fill multiple Analyst and Senior Analyst positions across country offices in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Nigeria is one of the selectable analysis contexts.
The selected analysts will produce country-level Acute Needs Analysis products that provide concise, decision-oriented assessments of life-threatening humanitarian needs. The findings will inform Humanitarian Programme Cycle processes, donor allocations and other prioritization decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ANALYTICAL-PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
- Lead implementation and delivery of the country-level analysis project with the headquarters programme team.
- Align implementation with global schedules and IMPACT’s analytical standards.
- Develop stakeholder maps and networks of country-level collaborators.
- Strengthen contextual understanding and monitoring.
- Develop user-centred analytical products.
- Support joint analysis with relevant stakeholders when appropriate.
DATA REVIEW AND CONSOLIDATION
- Collect and synthesize secondary information from REACH assessments, UN agencies, INGOs and public datasets.
- Use sources such as OCHA, FEWS NET and IPC where appropriate.
- Evaluate the reliability and limitations of available information.
- Identify critical evidence gaps.
- Support decisions concerning targeted, light-touch primary-data collection.
ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION
- Apply IMPACT’s global analytical guidance.
- Produce structured, consistent and context-appropriate Acute Needs Analysis.
- Apply frameworks such as Risk of Excess Mortality.
- Identify locations and population groups facing significant risk of loss of life.
- Estimate the number of people experiencing life-threatening conditions.
- Document analytical assumptions, limitations and reasoning clearly.
OUTPUT PRODUCTION AND DISSEMINATION
- Draft Acute Needs Analysis briefs using standardized global templates.
- Work with GIS and design personnel to include maps, caseload tables and other visual products.
- Ensure products undergo internal review and validation before dissemination.
- Present findings to clusters, working groups and donors when required.
- Support development of global key messages using country-level findings.
LEARNING AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Participate in lessons-learned reviews.
- Recommend improvements to global analytical processes and guidance.
- Contribute to organizational learning and development of additional analytical workstreams.
- Support internal knowledge sharing and analytical training.
- Monitor emerging humanitarian-analysis practices and innovations.
- Protect the confidentiality of information belonging to IMPACT, its partners and affected populations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least three years of relevant professional experience in a humanitarian setting.
- Relevant experience may include analysis, assessments, monitoring and evaluation or research design.
- Direct in-country experience is required.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in International Development, International Relations, Humanitarian Response, Data Science, Political Science or another relevant discipline.
- Contextual experience in Nigeria or another selected analysis context is an advantage.
- Position level will be determined according to the selected candidate’s experience.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability.
- Experience interpreting complex information and producing actionable findings.
- Strong writing and production of concise external briefs.
- Advanced Excel ability.
- Experience with Power BI, SPSS, R, Stata or Python.
- Understanding of basic GIS processes and outputs is an advantage.
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Ability to evaluate the reliability of different data sources.
- Understanding of humanitarian coordination, the Humanitarian Programme Cycle and inter-agency needs assessments.
- Ability to manage complex workflows and tight deadlines.
- Experience engaging clusters, donors, UN agencies and other external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English.
- Additional language requirements depend on the selected location.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural and fast-paced environments.
- Sound judgement, emotional intelligence and responsiveness to feedback.
CONTRACT DETAILS
- Position level: Analyst or Senior Analyst.
- Contract duration: Up to six months.
- Expected starting date: Mid-September 2026.

- Monthly gross salary: CHF 2,100–3,120, depending on seniority and location.
- Monthly living allowance: USD 300.
